The Medical Phone Operator handles high-volume inbound calls and ensures effective communication between patients, providers, and internal teams. This role supports appointment scheduling, call routing, and administrative tasks while maintaining professionalism and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Answer and route incoming calls efficiently and professionally.
Schedule appointments and manage provider calendars.
Take accurate messages and ensure timely follow-ups.
Maintain updated schedules and contact directories.
Support patient data entry and administrative requests (medical records, prescriptions).
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and internal policies.
Assist with general office communication and operational support.
Qualifications & Skills
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Professional phone etiquette.
Ability to work under pressure in high-volume environments.
Basic knowledge of healthcare processes and systems preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in healthcare or call center preferred.
Familiarity with EMR systems (e.g., Athena) is a plus.
