The Staff Health Clinical Advisory Team is a multidisciplinary team responsible for providing evidence-based clinical advice to support and facilitate health governance and health-related policies and programs on a range of ABF/Home Affairs staff health matters.
The team forms part of the Staff Health Clinical Advice Section, within the Clinical Advice and Assurance Branch of the Chief Medical Officer Division.

Our ideal candidate
We are seeking applications from suitably qualified occupational health medical practitioners to be part of a multidisciplinary team that provides clinical advice to support and facilitate health governance and health-related policies and programs across a range of ABF/Home Affairs staff health matters. This is a specialist medical role responsible for providing evidence-based occupational and environmental health clinical advice, including for cases that are complex, urgent, sensitive or high-profile. This role will also support the functions of the Chief Medical Officer and Deputy Chief Medical Officer in their roles responding to a broad range of portfolio health matters, as required.
Our ideal candidate will therefore be a fellow of a relevant Australian specialist medical college, have at least 5 years of experience working in occupational medicine in Australia and have previous experience providing occupational health clinical advice in a government agency with responsibility for overseeing complex operational environments.
Duties and responsibilities
As a specialist medical officer, this position will be responsible for providing timely, relevant, sensitive to context and evidence-based occupational and environmental health advice, including for cases which are urgent, sensitive and/or high profile. This advice supports all departmental activities relating to staff health with stakeholders spanning policy, program and operational areas, service providers and Workplace Health and Safety.
