JOB TITLE: MEDICAL LOGISTICS SUPPLY TECHNICIAN

POSITION INFORMATION: Shall provide logistical, administrative, and technical support in shipping, receiving, and material warehouse functions for Walter Reed National Military Medical Center’s Equipment Acquisition Warehouse Management Division Building 54, Bethesda, Maryland.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is a combination of sedentary duties as well as light to moderate physical effort. Requirements include walking, standing, reaching, bending and moving items. May require lifting and carrying weight over 45 pounds. Works periodically on hard surfaces.
- Shall physically receive and inspects incoming equipment and assign equipment number for accountability into the DMLSS system.
- Shall enter plant account information pertaining to equipment in the proper logs in DMLSS accurately and in a timely manner.
- Shall assign the correct identification tag, depending on the class of new equipment and identify previous equipment and place tag in a visible location on the equipment.
- Shall obtain the proper signatures of the departments either the Equipment Custodians or the department head.
- Shall conduct inventories, including wall to wall equipment, and other standard equipment processes during the course of this tasks.
- Shall regulate the equipment excess and survey programs, One Stop, DRMO disposal, excess supplies, furniture and equipment.
- Must perform various office functions and other related tasks assigned.
- Establishes and maintains administrative and property files and records.
- Types various forms, correspondence and reports using a variety of word processing, spreadsheets, staff communications and DMLSS. Answers routine inquires of a non- technical nature based on personal knowledge of subject or from information obtained by references to current correspondence and office records.
- Conducts Property Accountability functions to include inventories, Financial Liability Investigation, equipment acceptance and excess.
- Uses a computer terminal to type a wide variety of material for Equipment Management staff from rough drafts with responsibility for punctuation, spelling, grammar, format and arrangement. Inputs information into a variety of computer systems.
- Makes necessary conference arrangements and assemble background materials.
- Maintains a current knowledge of equipment management established procedures and answers employee questions on procedures, policy directives, etc.
- Obtains needed information or decisions from Supervisor of Equipment Management Division, and provides status of their work and any problems that occur.
- Conduct property accountability inventories, correlate and analyze data, document and input data in the DMLSS system.
- Responsible for proper record keeping, tagging, tracking, data collection, receiving, and transferring of equipment to the various hand receipts within the hospital.
- Responsible for tracking lost equipment, assisting in the Financial Liability Investigation (FLI) process to include preparing documents, spreadsheets, graphs, charts and power point presentation using Microsoft applications.
- Assist the Excess Equipment Manager with the turn-in of excess equipment and systems. Prepare property excess documentation for redistribution or disposal.
- Responsible for preparing documents, proper record keeping and data input into various systems.
- Responsible for tracking in excel format all FLIs, prepared documents.
- Approximately 105 entries are made in DMLSS daily.
- Approximately 20 hands receipts are inventoried daily.
- Deliver and pick up equipment from over 126 departments within the hospital and on the installation.
- Operate a forklift and GSA vehicles to receive, transport and turn-in equipment as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be skilled in naval logistics, inventory, and shipping of material.
- Must be highly skilled in standard warehousing operations for shipping, receiving, and storage of material.
- Must have great communications skills (writing and speech).
- Must be able to lift a maximum of 45 pounds.
- Must be qualified to operate a forklift and GSA vehicles.
- Knowledge of the DMLSS, Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point applications.
- Ability to tactfully inform others of proper procedures to accomplish mission.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Outstanding Customer Service skills.
- Adaptability and flexibility for short suspense and project turnaround.
EXPERIENCE: Must have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience with standard logistical, administrative, and technical support in shipping, receiving, and material warehouse functions with excellent verbal and writing skills.
POSITION TIMING: Immediate hire upon completion of all background and security investigations.
