Who We Are:
North Alabama Shoals Hospital is a 198-bed general acute care facility boasting spacious, private rooms for all patients, a 24-hour emergency department, medical and oncology services; medical/surgical inpatient units; and short-stay surgery units. Shoals also operates the region’s only in-patient acute rehabilitation facility, the J. W. Sommer Rehabilitation Unit, and the Shoals Senior Care Center, the Shoals’ only psychiatric unit dedicated to our senior adults.
A Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Performs routine laboratory tests in various sections of the laboratory. Reports to the Director of Laboratory Services.
Patient Populations Served: Does not directly treat or care for patients.
Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record.
Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present for all employees.
Physical Requirements: Frequent sitting, computer/data entry, and instrument handling; occasional standing, walking, and light lifting. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.

Education: Associate’s Degree in Science required.
License:Certifications: MLT certification through ASCP or AMT preferred.
