Qualifications: Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology/Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from an appropriately accredited MLT program.
- Current MLT certification by American Society Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) Board of Certification or American Medical Technologists (AMT), or certification-eligible with certification required 90 days of hire.
- Previous hands-on phlebotomy and patient specimen-collection experience is required. The applicant must be able to independently and competently perform venipuncture and capillary collections on adult and pediatric patients.
- Experience with proper patient identification, specimen labeling, order verification, collection requirements, specimen handling, processing, centrifugation, storage, transport, and identification of unacceptable specimens.
- Knowledge and practical experience in quality control, quality assurance, proficiency testing, laboratory safety, documentation, instrument operation and maintenance, and regulatory compliance
General Qualifications
- Requires ability to read and understand federal regulations (CLIA), Osage Nation policies and procedures, and state and accrediting agencies requirements and standards.
- Requires a high level of personal integrity and ethics.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and Privacy Act.
- Must have thorough professional knowledge of standard medical technology concepts & principles.
- Must be willing and able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must have good visual acuity to perform microscopic examinations.
- Must maintain a professional attitude and appearance that positively represents the Nation.
- Basic Life Support certified or within 90 days of hire.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record – may be required to drive GSA or Nation vehicles
