Your Role
The Healthcare Quality Affordability (HQA) Analytics team plays a key role in discovering information hidden in vast amounts of data that can lead to smarter decisions and deliver better service for our customers and contain the rising cost of healthcare. The Medical Informatics Analyst, Principal - Population Health will report to the Senior Manager of HQA Analytics. Your focus will be serving as a senior analytic and thought leader responsible for shaping population health strategy through advanced analytics and cross-enterprise influence. This role leads complex, high impact analytic portfolios that inform executive decision-making, guide population health investments, and drive improvements in outcomes, equity, utilization, and affordability across lines of business.

Your Work
In this role, you will:
- Own the design and execution of complex population level analytic agendas addressing high-priority organizational questions (e.g., cost drivers, utilization patterns, disparities, program impact
- Define analytic frameworks and methodologies for population segmentation, risk stratification, and evaluation goals that are reusable, scalable, and aligned with enterprise population health strategy
- Serve as a subject matter expert in population health analytics, advising senior leaders on interpretation of findings and strategic implications
- Apply advanced analytical approaches – including segmentation, risk stratification, predictive methods, and other appropriate techniques – to identify actional population-level opportunities and support targeted interventions, care management, and outreach strategies
- Integrate health equity and social drivers of health into analytic approaches to ensure insights address disparities and underserved populations
- Establish evaluation strategies to assess effectiveness, ROI, and equity impact of population health programs and interventions
- Support regulatory, accreditation, and contractual population health requirements through evidence-based measurement and reporting
- Serve as a strategic analytics partner to clinical, operational, and business leaders, translating organizational priorities and emerging needs into actional analytical strategies, priorities, and insights
- Develop deep knowledge of assigned clinical and population health portfolios, proactively identifying emerging trends, analytical opportunities, risks, and information needs to support business and clinical decision-making
- Establish and promote standards for reproducible analytics, including clear documentation of business definitions, methodologies, assumptions, data sources, and analytical logic to enable consistency and reuse across the organization
- Lead or contribute to multidisciplinary workgroups and governance forums focused on population health improvement
- Mentor and coach analysts, setting standards for analytic rigor, storytelling, and impact
Your Knowledge and Experience
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree or High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree. Graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., MPH, MSMBA, MA, RN, RHIA) or equivalent experience leading advanced analytics is preferred
- Requires 10 years of relevant experience delivering healthcare analytics (cost, quality, utilization, and/or outcomes) with enterprise impact
- Experience in delivering high-complexity analyses using 5 or more data sources across 5 or more clinical areas, applying multivariate methods and advanced statistical graphics
- Experience in leading high-complexity analyses using 5 or more data sources and reconciled analytical approaches with analysts in other departments
- Experience leading 3 or more cross-functional initiatives or workstreams end to end, including stakeholder alignment, timeline management, and executive-ready deliverables
- Project or program management credential (e.g., PMP) and 2 or more cross-functional initiatives delivered end to end is preferred
Hybrid
This role requires employees to be in-office based on our hybrid workplace model, balancing purposeful in-person collaboration with flexibility. For most teams, this means coming into the office two days each week.
Employees living more than 50 miles from an office location will work with their manager to determine in-office time based on business need.
