This position is in the Institute for Informatics, Data Science and Biostatistics (I2DB). At I2DB we have a people-centric approach where our team members are our number one asset. The Medical Informaticist II applies biomedical and informatics knowledge to assist in the design and development of queries to extract data from the Research Data Core. May educate staff and assist in problem solving to promote the implementation of healthcare IT and data management platforms. Includes both short-term projects with investigators as well as longer-term research work in collaboration with external research institutions, and data commercialization projects. This role strengthens the research initiative by integrating technical, regulatory, and commercial intelligence into strategic insights that guide commercialization pathways and project prioritization.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Develops, implements or evaluates health information technology applications, tools, processes or structures to assist clinical and research faculty and staff with data collection/extraction.
• Prepares estimates and feasibility analysis of data requests for primary investigators.
• Analyzes and interprets information systems data to improve research and clinical services.
• Designs, develops, selects, tests, implements and evaluates new or modified informatics solutions, data structures and decision-support mechanisms to support patients, healthcare professionals and their information management and human-computer and human-technology interactions within health care contexts.
• Reviews code written by other team members and ensures accuracy of data.
• Develops strategies, policies or procedures for introducing, evaluating or modifying information technology applied to clinical practice, education, administration or research.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$65,900.00 - $112,700.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
