Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
Repairs, calibrates, and maintains or coordinates the maintenance of all medical equipment and associated databases servers and networks used in health-care facilities. Inspects and installs all new medical and related technical equipment in medical facilities for use by physicians, nurses and support staff. Advises staff on new equipment purchases, installation, and on the most economical maintenance program. Repairs, calibrates, and maintains equipment and software, using specialty tools, simulators, and measuring devices, and has knowledge of manufactures’ manuals, troubleshooting techniques, and preventive maintenance schedules. Safety-test medical equipment to ensure patient and staff safety from electrical hazards. Consults with medical staff to ascertain those equipment functions properly and safely, utilizing knowledge of TJC current standard of care. Demonstrates or coordinates training on the correct operation of equipment to medical personnel.
An Associate’s Degree in Biomedical Electronic Technology and three (3) years of experience in the Biomedical field in a hospital.
Must have the mental capability of being able to make critical decisions often, and with consistency according to hospital polices. Specialist must have the mental capability to act responsible in stressful situations. Must be able to remember various specific equipment operational functions. Assist other specialist when the workload warrants. Maintains a good working relationship with co-workers. Represents the hospital in a professional manner and offers assistance to visitors when needed. Complies with the hospital and departmental dress code.
This position requires driving a hospital-owned vehicle and/or a personally owned vehicle to perform the essential job duties. In order to be considered, the candidate:
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting up to 99 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
