
The Division of Nephrology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha, NE is recruiting an experienced transplant nephrologist to join our faculty as Medical Director of the Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Program. This is a unique opportunity to provide clinical and administrative leadership for an established transplant program while helping shape its continued growth and development.
The Division consists of fifteen faculty members who are committed to providing state of the art care to our patients, training nephrologists, internists and medical students, and building strong clinical and translational research programs. The transplant program consists of five transplant nephrologists (4 clinical, 1 research). We have had an AST accredited transplant nephrology fellowship and anticipate ACGME certification for 2027. We are also home to a fully accredited nephrology fellowship that offers three positions each year. Faculty within the Division are consistently rated as the top educators in Internal Medicine and have clinical and research interests in transplantation, glomerular disease, home dialysis and medical student education.
Nebraska Medicine, our clinical partner, is home to Nebraska’s only transplant center, and has performed more than 4,600 adult and pediatric kidney transplants and more than 1,250 living-donor kidney transplants. Over the past 3 years, the program has averaged 180 total kidney transplants and 50 living donor transplants
· Leadership with Impact – Provide clinical, administrative and strategic leadership for an established kidney/pancreas transplant program, with opportunities to advance quality, patient outcomes, program development and growth.
· Academic Excellence – Engage in the education and mentorship of nephrology fellows, residents and medical students while pursuing clinical and translational research within an academic medical center.
· Collaborative Environment – Practice within a multidisciplinary transplant team, partnering with transplant surgeons and specialists to provide comprehensive care for kidney and pancreas transplant patients.
