Job Responsibilities
• Codes diagnoses and procedures of records.
• Abstracts information by reviewing records for reimbursement, statistical purposes for the daily operations, medical staff , and regulatory agencies.
• Serves as a resource to physicians, physician office staff, clinical documentation specialists, case managers, etc
• Completes all requirements for assigned goals.
Preferred/Desired Experience
Up to one year prior experience in physician/professional outpatient surgery, and/or emergency department coding.
Minimum Required Education
Skill in communicating clearly and effectively using standard English in written, oral and verbal format to achieve high productivity and efficiency. Skill to write legibly and record information accurately as necessary to perform job duties. Associates Degree Preferred

Knowledge of medical terminology beneficial. ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS
Minimum Required Special Skills
Basic skills in verbal and written communication.
Minimum Required Licensure
Certification in one of the following: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialst Physician (CCSP), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA, Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC/CPCH, Certified Professional Coder Payer).
