Amberwell Health is a dedicated rural critical access hospital committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. The MCIO will play a crucial role in advancing the hospital's mission of leveraging technology to improve health outcomes in the community. This is a 4 -8 hour per week administrative position requiring close collaboration with clinical and technical teams. The role may occasionally require on-site presence at any of the system locations during system implementations or upgrades.

The Medical Clinical Information Officer (MCIO) serves as the strategic leader bridging clinical practice and information technology at Amberwell Health. This role is pivotal in driving the implementation, optimization, and utilization of electronic health records (EHRs) to enhance patient care, improve clinical workflows, and ensure data integrity. The MCIO collaborates closely with clinicians, IT teams, and administrative leadership to align technological solutions with the hospital's mission and operational goals.

Job Duties

1. Clinical System Optimization:

  • Evaluate and optimize clinical workflows to enhance efficiency through EHR customization and configuration.
  • Develop clinical decision support tools to promote evidence-based practices.
  • Address user feedback, ensuring functionality and usability of clinical systems.

2. Data Governance and Quality:

  • Establish and uphold data quality standards, ensuring accuracy and reliability within the EHR.
  • Lead data cleansing and integrity initiatives to support clinical research and quality improvement efforts.
  • Oversee the development of robust data collection and reporting frameworks.

3. Clinical Informatics Leadership:

  • Partner with clinical leaders to assess and prioritize informatics needs.
  • Educate clinical teams on system functionalities and best practices for EHR use.
  • Facilitate training programs and provide ongoing support for clinicians.
  • Familiarity with data analysis techniques, reporting tools, and system configuration.

4. Project Management:

  • Direct the implementation of new clinical systems, including planning, testing, and user adoption strategies.
  • Manage system upgrades and updates, ensuring minimal disruption to clinical operations.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges.
  • Leading projects and fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to influence change and build consensus among diverse stakeholders.

5. Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build strong relationships with clinicians, administrators, and IT personnel to ensure alignment of systems with clinical needs.
  • Communicate changes and updates effectively to stakeholders, highlighting impacts on clinical practice.
  • Utilize strong verbal and written communication skills to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.



Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Experience:
    • Minimum Required

      Experience: EMR Proficiency, understanding of healthcare practices, clinical workflows, and medical terminology.
    • Preferred

      Experience: Two to three years
  • Education:
    • Minimum

      Required Education: Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine


    • Preferred Education: N/A
  • Licenses:
    • Minimum Required Licenses: Kansas Medical License
  • Preferred Licenses: Kansas License
  • Minimum Required Certifications: CPR Certification
  • State License:
    • Current state licensure as a Physician
