We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and highly organised Medical Billing Receptionist to join Northern Beaches Cancer Care Centre (NBCCC) based onsite at Frenchs Forest in a permanent full-time capacity.

This pivotal role is responsible for providing exceptional front-of-house support to patients, families, specialists, and clinical staff while ensuring accurate billing and administrative processes are maintained. As the first point of contact for patients undergoing treatment, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming and supportive experience while managing patient accounts, billing, and reception responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Reception & Patient Services:

  • Welcome and assist patients, families, and visitors with professionalism, empathy, and discretion.
  • Manage appointment bookings, confirmations, and patient enquiries.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and administrative documentation.
  • Liaise effectively with doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals to support seamless patient care.

Medical Billing & Accounts:

  • Process and manage private patient billing in accordance with practice policies and Medicare requirements.
  • Coordinate and reconcile private health fund billing, ensuring accuracy and timely submission of claims.
  • Prepare invoices, receipts, statements, and payment records.
  • Follow up outstanding accounts in a professional and patient-focused manner.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant healthcare billing regulations and privacy requirements.

Informed Consent Administration

  • Coordinate and manage the collection of informed consent documentation for treatment and procedures.
  • Ensure consent forms are completed accurately and filed appropriately within patient records.
  • Liaise with clinical teams to ensure documentation requirements are met prior to treatment commencement.

Administrative Support:

  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
  • Provide general administrative support including correspondence, data entry, scanning, and filing.
  • Assist with reporting, reconciliation, and practice management tasks as required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist, Medical Billing Officer, or Healthcare Administrator.
  • Demonstrated experience with: Private patient billings; Private health fund billing; Medical billing systems and patient account management; Informed consent documentation processes
  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Experience working in an oncology, specialist medical, or hospital environment will be highly regarded.
