Job Description

JOB TITLE: Medical Billing Clerk

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM

SUPERVISOR Business Office Manager or Assistant Administrator

Please note that this is a full-time, onsite opportunity. This opportunity is not a remote or hybrid position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs all billing for primary and secondary insurances for all practice locations

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:

This individual must have a minimum of 2-5 years prior business office experience relating to surgery centers, hospitals and/or physicians' office and is proficient in the Business Office Functions listed below:

  • High School Diploma
  • Two or more years experience in billing and collections in a medical setting
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

KNOWLEDGE: SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

  • Responsible for correcting all edits daily to ensure accurate claims print
  • Review all paper claims daily prior to being mailed to ensure complete information on claim form; attach all necessary supporting documentation prior to mailing
  • Review and correct all claims on electronic audit trails every day
  • File secondary claims for all practices in a timely manner
  • Respond to all calls and messages within 24 hours of receipt
  • Read and Respond to all incoming correspondence within three days of receipt
  • Read and Respond to all email within same business day
  • Work aging accounts in the priority defined by management daily
  • Utilize all available tools to follow up on outstanding insurance balances including internet sites and direct payer connections
  • Utilizes denial tracking tools daily that are implemented by management to report on all problems that prevent receipt of payments from payers
  • Escalate issues through the defined chain of command to achieve resolution and payment
  • Attend all staff meetings and training classes as assigned
  • Project a professional and positive image in person or over the phone with all contacts
  • Maintain all compliance standards, HIPAA standards, and confidentiality standards
  • Participate in loss prevention by protecting company assets and maintaining a safe and clean environment
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS Requires sitting and standing associated with normal office environment.

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS Normal busy surgical office environment.
