Our Medical Audit department acts on that mission by providing quality medical bill reviews and collaborating with stakeholders to provide cost savings to Texas Mutual, policyholders, and injured workers.
As a Medical Bill Auditor, you will work directly with Texas healthcare providers who provide treatment to injured workers. Your expertise will be instrumental in reviewing and analyzing medical bills, ensuring accuracy, completeness and reimbursement that is compliant with relevant regulations and payer policies.
This role requires a proactive and results-oriented individual with a strong medical billing or healthcare background. You will audit medical bills based on the Texas Workers Compensation Act. Your ability to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced, production-based environment is essential.
In this role, you will:
Review and analyze medical bills, ensuring they are accurate, complete, and compliant with relevant regulations and payer policies.
Work with key stakeholders to detect and investigate discrepancies or inconsistencies in billing practices, including potential fraud or abuse.
Provide key stakeholders with education and training on accurate coding practices and compliance matters through the audit processes.
Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices and process improvements within the billing and auditing functions.
You are required to have:
A high school diploma or GED.
At least two years of experience with medical billing or coding or equivalent education, training, or experience.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
It would be great if you have:
Knowledge of Workers' Compensation and/or Medicare medical billing.
Possess the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) designations.
Experience working in a healthcare provider's office.
The base pay range is based on the market evaluation of the job and may include pay for multiple levels. Individual base pay within the range is determined by a variety of factors, including experience, performance, education, and demonstration of skills and competencies required for each role. Base Pay Range: $27.81 - $34.36 Per Hour
Texas Mutual’s flex-hybrid schedule allows you to bring your best self to work by working remotely and collaborating in the office based on business needs. All Texas Mutual employees are required to have Texas residency and travel to their designated office as needed.
