This is a benefited, full-time position based at Scripps Clinic Hillcrest, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. No evenings or weekends are required. The selected candidate may be required to float to other sites as needed to provide coverage. This position requires both front office (clerical) and back office (clinical) Medical Assistant job duties. Your Job Duties:Both front office (clerical) and back office (clinical) Medical Assistant job dutiesRooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures & telehealth rooming/prepClinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocolsMaintains a clean, organized, and safe environmentOrganizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practiceRelaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized personCollecting patient data in person and by phoneDocumenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's reviewAdministering medications specifically directed by the physicianScheduling of appointments and proceduresComplete and accurate message takingPrioritizes, escalates, and routes messages according to clinical urgency and established workflowsOrder and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certificationsSupports clinic operations through administrative coordination, workflow management, and patient service activitiesCoordinates communication between patients, providers, pharmacies, specialists, and ancillary departmentsThis role is primarily administrative in nature, with a strong emphasis on managing high-volume communications, documentation, scheduling, and coordination activities
Required Qualifications:Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program OR hold a Medical Assistant Certification OR have a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsmanBLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)Strong written and verbal communication skillsPreferred Qualifications:1 year of experience working as Medical AssistantExperience working as a Medical Assistant in a Weight Management clinicInsurance authorization with prior authorization experienceMedication prior authorizationBilingual
