This is a full-time, benefitted position generally working Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm or 7:45am to 4:15pm, with hours varying as needed. The position is located at Scripps Clinic Carmel Valley and may require support at other Surgical Specialties locations as needed to support patient care. This position includes both front office (clerical) and back office (clinical) Medical Assistant job duties. What you'll do:Rooming patientsChecking vitalsAssisting with proceduresClinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocolsPredominantly back-office responsibilities but is expected to help with front-office duties on an as-needed basisMaintains a clean, organized, and safe environmentOrganizes and performs patient care services that support the provider's practiceRelaying instructions from the provider to the patient or authorized personCollecting patient data in person and by phoneDocumenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's reviewAdministering medications specifically directed by the providerScheduling of appointments and proceduresComplete and accurate message takingRouting messages to the appropriate area for directionOrder and referral entryAcquisition of pre-certificationsSetting up of cases in EPICBasic registration and updating of demographicsOther duties assigned as needed
Requirements:Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsmanBLS required in clinical setting for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:One year of experience as a MA in an outpatient setting preferredExperience working as a MA in any of these specialties: Vein Clinic, Dermatology, Urgent Care Center, Scripps Health Express, Family MedicineNew grads welcome to apply!
