Part-Time, 25 Hour position with a variable schedule based on clinic needs. Role will support Urgent Care, Family Medicine and Bariatrics. Urgent Care Rotations will be 8a-8p, Family Medicine/Bariatrics will be 8 hour days, typically 8a-4:30p.

JOB SUMMARY

The Medical Assistant will provide clinical support, assist with administrative tasks, and provide general support under direct supervision of a licensed practitioner or designee in accordance with UVA Health policies and procedures and competency to promote patient health and wellness.
This position requires providing service to all age populations in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.
Patient Care: Responsible for practicing safely within the defined standards of practice.
Communication: Communicates effectively and professionally with all members of the interdisciplinary team, patients, medical providers and all levels of healthcare.
Teamwork: Willing to share responsibilities, support their teammates, and work together to achieve common goals.
Technical Competence: Uses knowledge and skills acquired through training and validation through competency testing.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or GED Required.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in a clinic setting preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Licensure: Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) credentials or must be obtained within 6 months of date of hire through a recognized national professional association such as:
Additional Skills/Requirements Required AHA Healthcare Provider BLS required. Ability to successfully complete general and department role based specific skills validation and competency testing.
