What is a Medical Scribe?
In short, a medical scribe records and translates the interaction between physicians and their patients. Scribes are responsible for inputting pertinent information into the electronic medical record (EMR) in an accurate and timely manner. Scribes can also expect to perform other related duties as needed to improve provider efficiency and patient satisfaction.
Adding medical scribes to the workflow of your practice is a cost-effective solution to the burden of electronic documentation. Real-time documentation at the point-of-care enhances the healthcare system by enabling health information exchange, which is crucial for patients to receive the best possible care.
Benefits of a Medical Scribe:
- Improved provider quality of life
- Increase provider productivity
- All charts completed same day of service
- More accurate documentation = less down codes and higher reimbursements
- Higher patient satisfaction
- Increased patient flow
- Reduced patient wait times
