The anticipated hourly range for this position is $18.77/hr - $23.46/hr - $25.34/hr Final compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate's applicable experience, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors.

POSITION

The Non-Certified Medical Assistant provides basic clinical and administrative support to healthcare professionals. This role involves assisting with patient care, managing office tasks, and maintaining a welcoming environment in the healthcare setting, working under the supervision of certified medical staff. The Non-Certified Medical Assistant plays a supportive role in ensuring a seamless patient experience and efficient clinic operations, contributing to quality healthcare delivery.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Completion of a medical assistant training program preferred.

Licensure:

  • Certification not required; continued education and learning to sit for certification within first year
  • Association* accredited course in Basic Life Support (BLS) (for clinical staff), or Heart Saver CPR AED (for nonclinical staff), and renewal on a regular basis, with up to a three-month grace period after the expiration date.

Skills:

  • Basic clinical and administrative skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Work Experience:

  • Previous experience in a clinical setting is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assist healthcare providers with routine patient examinations and procedures.

2. Prepare examination rooms by cleaning and restocking supplies.

3. Record patient information such as vital signs and medical histories.

4. Schedule patient appointments and manage the patient flow.

5. Assist in operations, including answering phones, managing workload bucket(s), refilling prescriptions, maintaining medication sample(s) log, and cross covering within other departments.

6. Provide patients with basic instructions for medication and follow-up care based on provider instructions.

7. Performs phlebotomy and other CLIA Waived testing, observe urine collection as well as preparing batch(s) for laboratory.

8. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations.

9. Ensure compliance with clinic safety protocols and procedures. Assist patients as needed to maintain safety (i.e. Mobility).

10. Assist with inventory management by tracking and ordering supplies.

11. Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers.

12. Obtaining prior authorizations.

13. Participate in staff meetings and contribute to a positive clinic environment.

14. Demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop new skills in clinical care.

15. Chart preparation, including immunizations, discharge summary, continuation of care referrals, lab results, VA authorizations, and notes on referrals.
