Position Summary:The Downtown Jefferson Street Pulmonary Clinic is seeking a 100% Medical Assistant II. Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse, performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting. Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment.Position Responsibilities:Performs patient care related to vital signs, reviewing medications, allergies, lab draws, setting up and assisting with minor procedures, in-clinic treatments, point of care testing, removing staples and/or sutures, assisting with dressing changes, administering immunizations as ordered, and other duties as assigned.Stocks room with appropriate medical supplies and appropriate linens.Provides psychological support to the patient and family based on assessed needs.Attends and participates in staff meetings.Treats matters with confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements.Demonstrates consideration and respect for patients, families, and co-workers always.Completes on-line and in-service education programs annually and as required/offered.Other tasks as assigned.Floats as needed to other specialty clinics within the Jefferson Street ambulatory clinic building Percent of Time: 100%

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of medical records documentation requirements.Knowledge of medical instruments and supplies.Knowledge of routine oral, rectal, and injectable medications.Knowledge and ability to perform CPR and emergency care procedures.Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.Ability to maintain a courteous and respectful approach toward patients, visitors, and fellow staff members.Ability to work safely and willingness to comply with special safety and health precautions including universal precautions.Ability to provide care regarding patient condition and age.Ability to use supplies and equipment in a cost-efficient manner.Ability to maintain personal appearance in accordance with dress code.Ability to be punctual, dependable, and flexible. This may include altering work schedule to meet unit/patient needs.Ability to read and understand instructions and guidelines and to read data indicators.Ability to maintain effective working relationships.Minimum Eligibility Requirements:Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant or completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, orCompletion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology, and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.Application Process:In order to be considered, applicants must upload a resume (under required attachments).
