What you’ll do:

Under the direction of the Manager/Director, the Lead Medical Assistant coordinates daily clinic operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care, exceptional customer service, and efficient practice operations. This role serves as a clinical and operational leader within the ambulatory setting, supporting providers and staff, optimizing patient flow, coordinating scheduling and registration activities, and promoting adherence to organizational policies, regulatory standards, and best practices. The Lead Medical Assistant fosters a collaborative work environment, supports staff development, drives quality and service initiatives, and serves as a resource for problem resolution and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care and clinical support throughout the patient visit, including intake, assisting with procedures, patient communication, follow-up coordination, and provider support.
  • Coordinate daily clinical operations to ensure efficient workflow, patient access, staffing coverage, and optimal clinic performance.
  • Support registration, scheduling, insurance verification, referrals, and patient access functions.
  • Lead and coordinate staff activities, including scheduling, onboarding, training, and performance support.
  • Assist with operational oversight, including supply management, equipment maintenance, expense monitoring, and charge capture processes.
  • Promote quality improvement, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and service excellence initiatives.
  • Serve as a key resource for communication, collaboration, and problem resolution among staff, providers, patients, and departments.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts that enhance patient experience, clinical outcomes, and operational efficiency.

What you’ll need for this job:

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • 3-5 years of ambulatory healthcare experience in a primary care or specialty care setting.
  • Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), NCCT, or NHA credentialed Medical Assistant.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Successful completion of Loyola's phlebotomy training program.

Preferred

  • Associate's Degree.
  • 6+ years of related healthcare experience.
  • Previous supervisory or lead experience in a clinical setting.
  • ACLS and/or PALS certification.
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician certification.

Compensation:

Pay Range: $18.16- $28.14 per hour 

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
