Medical Assistant II - Surgery Specialty Clinic (70%-100%)-(26003432)

UI Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a 70%-100% Medical Assistant II to work for the Surgery Specialty Clinic. Our Surgery Specialty Clinic is dedicated to excellence in patient care. As a Medical Assistant, you’ll be an integral part of our dynamic team, supporting healthcare professionals and ensuring top-quality service for our patients.

Duties to include:

  • Staff will support our Surgery Outpatient Clinic patients.
  • Responsible for facilitating the smooth flow of patients through the clinic through interaction with patients, families, and staff.
  • Leads and ensures an efficient rooming process for patients, including but not limited to obtaining vital signs, patient history, medication records, allergies, and immunizations.
  • Assists in clinic with physical examination of patients and related treatments.
  • Supports management of internal and external medical records to ensure that accurate and complete data is available for patient appointments.
  • Obtains routine laboratory samples such as urinalysis and blood work, as needed.
  • Performs related clerical tasks including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and providing information to other departments.
  • Works closely with Central Sterile team to ensure delivery of reusable instruments for processing, accounting for return of all instruments to clinic, monitoring reports, and supporting organization of new instruments.
  • Stocks supplies, stocks rooms, and monitors expirations.
  • Daily, weekly, monthly audits.
  • Supports strong patient experience metrics by providing high quality and patient centered care.

Percent of Time: 70% - 100% (28 -40 hours per week)
Salary: Merit Plan Plan
Schedule: Monday-Friday. Variable hours between 0730-1700, no weekends, no holidays.

Qualifications

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, OR
  • Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology (include educational transcripts during application process)
