Description

Position Summary:Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse, performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting by coordinating patient intake and clinic flow.The position schedule is Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm with occasional requirements to stay until 5:15pm. No weekends, holidays, or evenings. Position is not required to float to other units.Specific Job Duties & Tasks:Performs patient intake activities such as blood pressure, temperature, weight, history, venipuncturesAssists with specialized proceduresDocuments clinic activity as requiredPerforms laboratory tests and records results, and performs quality control activitiesTransports lab specimens, reports and equipment to and from UI Health Care and other University areasReviews medical records for required and recommended immunizations and documents sameAdministers medications including giving immunizationsCleans and prepares examination and procedure roomsPerforms selected clerical duties such as scheduling, filing medical records, entering immunization informationFor a detailed job description, please email Rebecca Sweere at rebecca-hoag@uiowa.edu. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant or completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, orCompletion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology, and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.Desirable Qualifications:One year experience working in an ambulatory clinic as a Medical Assistant.Experience organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks.Application Details:Job openings are posted for a minimum of 10 calendar days and may be removed from posting and filled any time after the original posting period has ended.
