Position Title: Medical Assistant II – Peds Gastroenterology
Location: Riley Outpatient Center, MSA2, 705 Riley Hospital Drive, Suite 4210, Indianapolis, IN 46202
Scheduled Hours: 40 hours per week
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (with an option for four 10-hour days: 7:00 am – 5:30 pm)
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Medical Assistant II team members to support the Pediatric Gastroenterology department at Riley Hospital. Under the supervision of the designated supervisor and assigned physician, you will perform clinical and administrative duties to provide high-quality patient care in accordance with organizational standards. Your role involves ensuring smooth patient flow, assisting with procedures, and supporting the clinical team’s efficiency.
Position Responsibilities:
Perform direct patient care activities, including rooming patients, assisting with procedures, and general lab work.
Instruct patients regarding procedures, treatments, and needs.
Ensure all ordered procedures and treatments are completed accurately and promptly.
Support smooth patient flow and coordinate care activities.
Perform registration, scheduling, and maintain EMR files.
Support front office functions such as patient check-in and check-out.
May perform computerized physician order entry when directed by the physician.
Precept current MA team members or externs as requested by leadership.
Qualifications & Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Graduation from a Medical Assistant program preferred.
Current certification in Medical Assisting from one of the following organizations:
American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
American Medical Technologists (RMA)
National Healthcareer Association (CCMA)
National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare workers required.
Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA standards required.
Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required.
TB validation (to administer or read) preferred or obtained within 6 months of hire.
Familiarity with Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use, and Standard Work concepts within 6 months of hire.
Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures.
Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers.
Ability to master clinical competencies per current policies and checklists.
Basic math skills and accurate data collection and entry skills required.
