The SBHC Department partners with three school districts to provide comprehensive health services at six SBHCs. The SBHCs reduce health inequities by focusing on prevention and youth empowerment. The Medical Assistant I (MAI) is a key member of the medical care team who proactively collaborates with providers to provide high quality primary care to a panel of patients. The MAI assists in managing patient flow and performs care coordination for patients in their pod, under the guidance of a registered nurse. The MAI will also perform administrative duties and represent the medical department at meetings.
As this is an On Call position, this role will be traveling site to site as coverage is needed.
The Native American Health Center is an accredited institution and adheres to the standards of excellence set forth by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and the Commission of Dental Accreditation (CODA).
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Pod Primary MA Responsibilities
a) Obtain consistent and accurate vitals; pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height of patients. Record results into the patients’ electronic health record.
b) Perform developmentally appropriate blood tests, EKG's, visual acuity, urine and hearing tests
c) Collect member specimens for testing.
d) Update patient information as needed.
Pod Care and Case Coordination Responsibilities
General Duties and Responsibilities
6 Support with transportation of clinical inventory supplies when needed and as assigned.
