The Medical Assistant I works within a multi-disciplinary healthcare team to provide patient care and perform administrative and laboratory duties in support of clinic operations. This role includes taking vital signs, assisting with examinations and procedures, maintaining patient records, and ensuring effective patient flow to support the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.
NOTE: In order to ensure that our consumers receive the best possible care the candidate chosen to fill this position will be required to complete our internal credentialing and privileging process prior to a start date. The credentialing and privileging timeline is dependent on the selected candidate's submission of documents necessary for clearance. Please note that a start date will be scheduled once credentialing and privileging is complete.
Assist healthcare providers in delivering direct patient care, including taking vital signs and conducting patient assessments.
Communicate significant clinical information to healthcare professionals as necessary.
Maintain a professional, confidential, and trauma-informed work environment.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary healthcare teams, including medical assistants, providers, behavioral health professionals, dental staff, pharmacists, and patient navigators.
Recording patient vital signs and history in NextGen.
Documenting patient visits, including medical, social, and family history.
Managing tasks through the Inbox and handling patient communications.
Entering immunization records and scanning documents into patient charts.
Perform patient check-ins and manage workflow to ensure efficient use of clinic resources.
Obtain specimens and perform laboratory tests, such as urinalysis, glucose checks, and hematocrits.
Conduct venipuncture and prepare blood specimens for transport.
Administer immunizations per clinic protocols and document them in the Colorado Immunization Information System (CIIS).
Contact patients for follow-up on missed appointments and chronic care management.
Schedule patient appointments, X-rays, and special studies as needed.
Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, faxing, copying, and maintaining clinic files.
Support providers and nurses during examinations and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
