Applicant must possess a High School diploma or equivalent and have successfully completed an accredited Medical Assistant certificate program. A minimum of one year of Medical Assistant experience is required. Must have current CPR (BLS Provider) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross. Certification may be obtained prior to orientation. The applicant must be willing and able to travel between multiple RSBCIHI clinic locations and must have reliable transportation. Applicant must be available to work various schedules as needed, including late nights and last minute schedule changes. Must be able to deliver competent, age-specific care to patients in an ambulatory, primary care setting, with various specialties (family practice, woman's heath, pediatrics, podiatry, pain management), including performance of treatment/ procedures, and performance of CLIA waived testing procedures. The Floater Medical Assistant is a full-time position with the schedule of Monday-Friday 40 hours per week (8:00am-5:00pm), including late nights (7:00pm) once day a week. Must be able to work with the Indian Community and be sensitive to the Indian culture and its needs.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Education:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Must have graduated or successfully completed a certificate program for medical assistants (documentation of diploma or certificate required).
Experience:
A minimum of one year of Medical Assistant experience is required.
Knowledge of:
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office), Utilization of electronic health record systems
Certification:
Current CPR (BLS Provider) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross. Certification may be obtained prior to orientation.
License:
A valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation and the flexibility to travel to various RSBCIHI locations.
Skill:
Ability to effectively communicate with multiple disciplines within the medical team including providers, pharmacy, nursing staff, and pharmacy staff.
Ability to:
Work a variable schedule to meet client and program needs.
Must be able to work with the Indian Community, and be sensitive to the Indian culture and its needs.
Physical Demands:
There is frequent exposure to infectious diseases. Frequent walking, bending, and reaching. Standing for long periods of time. Some sitting and lifting required. The incumbent will be required to assist patients who are frail or handicapped. Driving will be required between clinics. This position is considered a uniformed service and a dress code is published.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday 40 hours per week, including late night one day a week.
