Job Description

RAYUS Radiology is looking for a Medical Assistant (MA) Float to join our team. As a Medical Assistant (MA) Float, you will be responsible for supporting the physician assistant and/or technologist with the daily functions of the Clinic and provide general administrative support to the department. Medical Assistants with Rayus also have the responsibility to prep patients for Diagnostic/Therapeutic injections without Pain Care Providers, providing support to the DTI Technologist to ensure a smooth day. This is a fulltime position working Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:00am-5:00pm (8-hour shifts) at our Blaine, Edina, and Plymouth centers; traveling to other locations throughout the metro as needed (Burnsville, Shakopee, Woodbury).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(50%) Patient Care

  1. Greet patients and escorts them to the exam room
  2. Take and record patient vitals and temperature
  3. Assist provider or physician assistant (PA) in the room as needed
  4. Enter patient's past medical information , locate previous medical records, relay messages to patients from providers and vice versa
  5. Enter in medication refill requests
  6. Communicate directly with supervisor regarding patient medications and possible contra-indications
  7. Start patient IVs (as needed)
  8. Assist with oral sedation
  9. Prep patients for their injections with the injection department

(45%) Administrative Support

  1. Monitor the clinic's patient schedule, assist with managing add-on appointments and follow up appointments
  2. Facilitate the patient flow, with direction from supervisor
  3. Discharge the patients from the clinic with appropriate information and documentation
  4. Call or fax patient prescriptions to the pharmacy
  5. Place follow-up phone calls to patients prescribed pain management medications or narcotics to check if additional treatment and/or a follow-up appointment is required
  6. Document all patient prep calls in RISLogic or aRies systems
  7. Assemble next day's H&P paperwork assigned location on a daily basis
  8. Manage all incoming phone calls from patients regarding past procedures or treatments, with guidance from the Supervisor
  9. Coordinate the patient flow, with scheduling and front office, to fit in schedule add-ons
  10. Maintain office supplies within department and stockroom
  11. Assist with cleaning exam rooms
  12. Provide daily updates to the Supervisor regarding individual work schedule and completion of the day's tasks, etc.

(5%) Performs other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications

Required:

  1. High school diploma, or equivalent
  2. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant education program
  3. Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  4. One (1) year experience using Microsoft Office Suite; Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  5. Travel is required between sites; a reliable means of transportation is required
  6. Valid driver's license and proof of current insurance is required for the team member to personally drive a vehicle for company business (regardless of whether it's a company or personal vehicle)

Preferred:

  1. One (1) year of Medical Assistant work experience
  2. Healthcare experience in radiologic procedures and medications
  3. Bilingual
