This is a full-time, benefited position located at Shiley Pavilion in the Torrey Pines area of La Jolla. The typical schedule is 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Job Duties: Perform patient intakesScribing all visit notes for the dermatologistCompleting clerical duties including scheduling patient visits, taking supply inventory and managing medication authorization approvalsFloat to other sites within the dermatology & mohs specialties depending upon department needsMaintain a clean, organized, and safe environment, and organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice.Assisting in preparing patients for examination/proceduresAssisting physicians with proceduresRelaying instructions and testing results from the physician to the patient or authorized personCollecting patient data in person and by phone and documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's reviewPerforming vital sign documentationScheduling of appointments and proceduresComplete and accurate message takingRouting messages to the appropriate area for directionOrder and referral entryAcquisition of pre-certificationsBasic registration and updating of demographics
Required Qualifications:Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program OR hold a Medical Assistant Certification OR have a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsmanBLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)Preferred Qualifications:1 year MA experience in an outpatient settingExperience with the following: Epic experience, surgical experience, wound care and/or suture removal, sterile process, outpatient clinic experienceExperience working as a MA in Dermatology
