Job Location: NEUROLOGICAL ASSOCIATES OF TUCSON PC - TUCSON, AZ 85718
Position Type: Full Time

General Summary: A nonexempt position responsible for day-to-day work flow and training of medical assistants as assigned by the Clinical Operations Supervisor and/ Director of Operations.  Resource for questions concerning clinical protocols.  Provides excellent customer service in a timely, accurate, courteous and professional manner.  Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services.  This position is equally responsible for performing a variety of clinical duties including assisting physicians with patient care.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Fulfills patient care responsibilities for assigned physicians and/or other areas as needed.
- Works in conjunction with manager developing and monitoring processes relative to medical and administrative patient care.
- Checks accuracy of work performed by the medical assistants and tactfully communicates any needed corrections.
- Resource for medical assistants and other departments regarding the clinical protocols.
- Ensures the department is adequately equipped with appropriate supplies/inventory management
- Participates in quality improvement processes.
- Respects/promotes patient rights and responds appropriately to emergencies.
- Shares problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisor/manager.
- Consults with the immediate supervisor about any system problems.
- Communicates to appropriate staff any patient concerns/issues related to patient care.
- In conjunction with manager, coordinates staff schedules to meet changing workload needs.
- Participates in the hiring, supervision and evaluation of assigned staff.
- Provides professional and technical support to staff, including training new hires.
- Adheres to all meaningful use workflows and helps ensure staff compliance.
- Participates in the implementation and evaluation of training, orientation and education programs.
- May provide operational support to the organization in the absences of the Clinical Supervisor and/or the Director of Operations.
- Supports quality of care by maintaining clinic standards of care while adhering to requirements of governing agencies.  Monitors staff for compliance and discusses any noncompliance issues with direct supervisor.
- Works as a productive member of the team helping co-workers as needed and/or assigned.
- Performs all medical assistant duties and covers for medical assistants as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), Medical Assistant certification from an accredited institution (preferred).

Experience: Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant or any equivalent combination of experience.

Other Requirements: Up to date CPR certification (preferred). Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.

- Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to medical practice.
- Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
- Knowledge of human resources management principles.

- Skill in applying quality assurance techniques.
- Skill in training staff, both new staff members and existing staff.
- Skill in documentation of patient care including reviewing for accuracy and completeness.
- Skill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately.
- Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.
- Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
Abilities:
