Compensation

Starting pay: $18.00 to $20.50 per hour

Current CMA or CNA certification is required.

Full-time | Daytime hours | No weekends or holidays | Sign-on bonus available

Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to join our team at our newly renovated family health center in Bloomington, Illinois.

In this role, you'll be an important part of the patient care team, helping our providers deliver high-quality care while keeping the day running smoothly. You'll welcome and room patients, take vital signs and health histories, perform screenings and point-of-care testing, provide phlebotomy services, assist with examinations, and document care in the electronic medical record.

And the schedule? Daytime hours with no weekends or holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients, schedule appointments, answer phones, and support daily medical office operations.
  • Review patient charts to identify care gaps and help ensure providers have the information needed for each visit.
  • Obtain outside medical records and gather required patient paperwork and documentation.
  • Room patients and prepare them for their appointments.
  • Perform screenings, obtain vital signs, and gather patient health histories.
  • Accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Administer, evaluate, and document point-of-care waived tests with structured guidance and oversight.
  • Perform and document phlebotomy services.
  • Assist providers with medical examinations and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of patient and organizational information.
  • Promote Chestnut's culture of customer service excellence and provide compassionate, respectful care in every interaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Certification & Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant training program required.
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide compassionate, professional service to patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience using an electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Ability to assist with common medical and medical office procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
