Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant is a member of the patient centered medical care team and is responsible for working with providers, nurses and other front office staff to prepare patients in an efficient manner and ensure a smooth and consistent workflow.

Medical assistants perform many tasks some of which include:

  • Documentation of chief complaint,
  • Review of medications and allergies,
  • Vital signs, completing preventive health screenings, lab test and or other procedures.
  • Administrative support

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of a Medical Assistant program (diploma) from an accredited school or be certified as a medical assistant with one year of experience.Basic Life Support Certification is also required.

Oral and written proficiency in English, bi-lingual fluency in Spanish preferred.

The selected candidate will have a thorough knowledge of medical terminology and relevant procedures, excellent written, electronic and oral communication skills, above average critical thinking and problem solving skills and strong

The vision of the Community Health Center was born in this era and grew from the premise that health care should be a right of all people regardless of their ability to pay.

With a commitment to serving the New Haven, Branford and East Haven communities, FHCHC takes a holistic approach to health, linking medical services, pharmacy services, dental services, and behavioral health.

FHCHC has grown from the small store front to a complex, multifaceted primary care center that currently serves more than 36,000 patients with over 150,000 visits per year.
