Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our dynamic primary care team. This role is integral to the smooth operation of our busy family practice, where you will work alongside healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks, from patient interaction and vital sign collection to specimen collection and administrative support.
- Rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and ensuring a comfortable and efficient patient experience.
- Performing phlebotomy and specimen collection with precision and care.
- Administering immunizations and injections within the scope of practice.
- Preparing and stocking exam rooms to maintain a clean and organized environment.
- Managing in-basket messages and pending orders, ensuring timely communication.
- Supporting provider workflows in the electronic health record system.
- Assisting with patient outreach initiatives and population health tracking.
- Collaborating with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to deliver comprehensive care.
- Adapting to evolving clinic workflows and maintaining a proactive approach.
- Ensuring patient confidentiality and adhering to all relevant healthcare regulations.
- Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience.
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT-1) certification.
- Current American Heart Association CPR certification.
- One year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical practice, preferably in family practice or primary care.
- Familiarity with Epic (APeX) electronic health record system is preferred.
- Knowledge of immunizations, including cycles and standard recommendations.
- Experience working with the public in a medical or healthcare setting.
- Fluency in Spanish or Chinese (speaking, reading, and writing) is an asset.
- Ability to collect, enter, and analyze data accurately.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural competency in diverse patient interactions.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF.
