As a Medical Advisor Oncology, you will act as a trusted scientific expert—both externally with healthcare professionals and internally across the organization. You will build strong scientific relationships, deepen understanding of oncology trends, support evidence generation, and contribute medical insights that shape our strategy and bring innovative medicines to patients.
This is a field‑based, customer‑facing role where you will spend around 50% of your time engaging with Key External Experts (KEEs) and other oncology stakeholders.
What You Will Do
Identify and collaborate with oncology experts for advisory boards, symposia, lectures, investigator‑initiated studies, and other medical activities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with scientific leaders and decision-makers.
Develop and implement KEE engagement plans with your manager.
Share and interpret clinical data in a balanced, evidence‑based manner.
Respond to unsolicited medical information requests with the highest scientific and ethical standards.
Identify opportunities for investigator‑initiated studies, real‑world evidence projects, and clinical trials addressing unmet medical needs.
Support feasibility assessments and investigator/site selection.
Play a key role within cross‑functional brand teams in Oncology.
Provide medical insights on clinical practice, treatment trends, and scientific gaps.
Contribute medical input to brand strategy, planning, and budgeting.
Lead local medical plans and pre‑launch activities for new therapies.
Deliver scientific and product training to internal teams.
Understand patient demographics, treatment journeys, and unmet needs.
Engage stakeholders around patient pathways and experience.
Support discussions on treatment options in a non‑promotional, medically objective manner.
Provide medical review of promotional materials and events.
Act as Nominated Signatory ensuring compliance with SOPs, industry codes, and local regulations.
Uphold AstraZeneca’s ethical standards, confidentiality, and governance requirements.
Own your scientific development in oncology.
Actively participate in training, meetings, and development programs.
Demonstrate AstraZeneca Values in everyday work.
What We’re Looking For
University degree in biomedicine (Medical degree preferred)
Minimum 2 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry
Strong scientific communication and presentation skills
Excellent English language proficiency
Proven relationship‑building and stakeholder management skills
Project management experience
Understanding of the product lifecycle
Valid driver’s license
Advanced scientific degree (PhD, MSc, specialization)
Deep knowledge of Medical Affairs operations
Strong understanding of current technical and regulatory frameworks
Who You Will Work With
Internal: Brand/Disease Area Teams, Medical Affairs, Diagnostics, Patient Affairs, Compliance, Regulatory, PV/Patient Safety, Market Access and other cross‑functional partners.
External: Healthcare professionals, medical societies, service providers, patient associations, regulatory bodies, and other local/regional stakeholders.
