Description: Middletown Prairie Elementary is accepting applications for a Media Specialist/Librarian Long-Term Substitute. This position is responsible for fostering a love of reading, supporting students in developing essential research and digital literacy skills, and collaborating with staff to enhance classroom learning. This position will be needed from approximately December 3, 2026 through January 25, 2027.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide engaging library/media lessons aligned with literacy and technology goals.
• Foster joyful reading and guide students in selecting age-appropriate materials.
• Teach foundational information literacy and responsible technology use.
• Partner with teachers to support classroom instruction and schoolwide literacy initiatives.
• Maintain an organized, inclusive library environment.
• Manage the library collection, circulation system, and digital resources.

Qualifications:

• Valid Illinois Substitute License and/or Professional Educator License with Library/Media Specialist or Library Information Specialist endorsement registered in ROE 9.
• Knowledge of children's literature, literacy development, and instructional technology.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Salary: $150 per day for the first 15 days, $247.13 starting on day 16 (daily rate for a first year teacher).
