Versant, located in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, is home to a Media Operations Center (MOC) team comprised of innovative and highly skilled professionals who oversee the acquisition, preparation, quality control, and distribution of content across Versant's media platforms.

Operating in a 24/7 environment, the MOC team ensures the reliable delivery of content to linear broadcast networks, digital platforms, and distribution partners. The team is responsible for sourcing, preparing, processing, and fulfilling media assets while maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence, reliability, and service quality.

The Media Operations Specialist is a senior individual contributor responsible for supporting all aspects of the media supply chain, including content ingest, quality control, transcoding, metadata management, asset preparation, first-party ad processing, and content distribution. In addition to executing operational workflows, this role serves as a key escalation point for technicians, supports training initiatives, contributes to process improvements, and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to maintain operational excellence.

This position reports directly to the MOC Manager.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Execute Media Operations Technician workflows accurately and efficiently while adhering to established service-level agreements and operational standards.
  • Perform content quality control (QC), transcoding, editing, metadata validation, asset preparation, and content distribution activities.
  • Serve as a primary escalation point for Media Operations Technicians and partner departments regarding operational issues and workflow exceptions.
  • Collaborate with Technical Operations, Commercial Operations, Program Operations, On-Air Operations, Engineering, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful fulfillment and delivery of media assets.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve urgent operational issues in real time while identifying root causes and implementing preventative solutions.
  • Assist with departmental training initiatives, including onboarding new team members and supporting the rollout of new workflows, systems, and procedures.
  • Support testing, implementation, and validation of new technologies, systems, and operational processes.
  • Create, publish, maintain, and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and workflow documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, workflow effectiveness, and service reliability.
  • Participate in incident response and resolution activities to maintain departmental goals for reliability and availability.
  • Maintain the department's commitment to achieving and exceeding operational reliability and service-level objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a broadcast, post-production, media operations, or related technical media environment.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience performing transcoding, quality control, and fulfillment functions for broadcast or digital media workflows.
  • Experience using file-based quality control tools such as Baton or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with media asset management (MAM), workflow orchestration, and metadata management systems.
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding performance expectations.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to perform under pressure during time-sensitive operational events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Engineering, Media Technology, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Knowledge of waveform monitors, vectorscopes, audio measurement standards, and quality control best practices.
  • Knowledge of digital video formats, codecs, file delivery standards, and industry-standard media processing tools.
  • Experience with media asset management systems, workflow automation platforms, and content distribution technologies.
  • Understanding of digital broadcast, production, and media supply chain workflows.
  • Experience with platforms such as Baton, Vantage, Dalet, Avid, Harmonic, Imagine, or similar media operations systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn proprietary and third-party software applications.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and adapting to new technologies and workflows.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to work onsite in Englewood Cliffs, NJ.
  • Must be willing to work a schedule that may include evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as part of a 24/7 operation.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization in the United States.
