The Royal Australian
and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (the RANZCP) is a not-for-profit
professional membership organisation. We are responsible for training,
educating and representing psychiatrists in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

About the
role

Permanent
| Full time | Naarm (Melbourne)

As Media
Officer, you will support the College’s day-to-day media function across
Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. Working closely with the Manager, Media and
External Communications, you will help deliver proactive media engagement,
develop content and monitor coverage, contributing to the College’s voice in
psychiatry and mental health.

This is a
great opportunity for someone with strong writing and comprehension skills and passion
for media and public affairs, who enjoys a mix of content development,
coordination and stakeholder engagement.

What
you’ll be doing

  • Support media liaison and prepare
    media releases, statements, talking points and responses
  • Draft and shape media
    content, ensuring clarity and alignment with key messages
  • Monitor media coverage and
    identify relevant stories and opportunities
  • Prepare media monitoring
    reports highlighting key coverage and insights
  • Maintain media contacts,
    spokesperson lists and related records
  • Coordinate media
    activities, including calendars, briefings and materials
  • Collaborate with internal
    teams to gather content and identify media angles

What you'll bring

  • Relevant
    qualifications in communications, journalism, public relations or a related
    discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Strong
    writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear and accurate
    content
  • Understanding
    of the media landscape and news cycle
  • Strong
    organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
  • High
    attention to detail
  • Strong
    interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
