Media Executive | Recruitment Marketing | Auckland or Wellington | 6-month fixed-term contract (view to permanent)
We're Haines, and we do one thing well: we help organisations win the war for talent through media that actually performs, not media that just gets spent. Our client list includes some of New Zealand's most complex hiring challenges, from clinical roles across the health sector to hard-to-fill engineering positions on major infrastructure projects.
We're growing. Several client accounts are coming online over the next two quarters, and we need a Media Executive to help us deliver on them properly from day one.
What you'll actually be doing
You'll run media campaigns across Meta, Google Ads and TikTok, but that's the baseline, not the ceiling. Recruitment audiences are often small, specific and hard to reach through mainstream channels alone, so you'll also work across international and niche platforms that most generalist agencies never touch. If a client needs to reach forensic psychiatrists or offshore engineers, the answer isn't always a bigger budget on the same three platforms, it's knowing where else to look. You'll need to genuinely dig in rather than default to what's familiar.
You'll also interpret performance data and dashboards to work out what's working, what isn't, and what to change. Experience building dashboards yourself is a bonus rather than a requirement, but you need to be comfortable reading GA4 data and turning it into a clear view on optimisation.
Our mantra is "you're making it." We don't hand you a task list and expect you clocked off once it's done. We're entrepreneurial, and we go the extra mile for clients, which might mean researching market trends one day and organising mobile billboards in London CBD the next. If you want a role with a fixed job description and nothing more, this isn't it. If you want a role where initiative gets noticed and rewarded, it is.
What you'll bring:
Hands-on experience managing paid media across major platforms, ideally with real budget accountability
Comfort with GA4 and performance data, with the ability to translate results into optimisation decisions (dashboard building is a bonus, not a requirement)
Experience managing multiple client accounts or stakeholders at once
Recruitment marketing or talent acquisition exposure is a genuine advantage, not a requirement
Strong critical thinking: the ability to diagnose why something isn't working, not just report that it isn't
How we work
Hybrid, three days a week in-office (Auckland or Wellington), because the best media thinking still happens when people are in a room together. We're a small, senior team, so you'll get real autonomy and real client exposure fast, not three years of running someone else's reports before anyone trusts you with a client conversation. We've also got an indoor footy team, a dog-friendly office, and no shortage of furry friends wandering the halls.
The practical bit
6-month fixed-term contract, with a clear intention and defined timeline to convert to permanent. We'll be upfront with you throughout on how that's tracking.
We take this seriously, but we don't take ourselves too seriously, and we think that balance shows in how we work. If you're ready for real responsibility and a team invested in your growth, we'd like to hear from you. Apply now, or get in touch if you'd prefer to talk it through first.
