Mental/Physical Effort
Work performed is varied in nature and requires prolonged periods of close concentration to details and accuracy. Demands initiative and decision making in possibly controversial and/or emotional issues. Approximately 75% of the time is spent in an office setting. The remainder of the time is spent in patient care situations.
Education
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, preferably with a Bachelor of Science degree. Due to frequent regulatory/licensure/accreditation changes, continued education through workshops and seminars is required.
Licensure/Certification
Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana.
Must maintain current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
Competent in ECG rhythm strip interpretation.
Must provide copies of licensure/certification for personnel records including renewals.
Experience
Experience in management and preferred. Preferred two years’ experience as a staff nurse.
Special Knowledge
Knowledge of acceptable accreditation standards for med-surg. and ICU department is required. Must know and understand federal and state laws and regulations, accreditation standards and guidelines. Ability to initiate new ideas, make decisions, and problem solve is required. Critical thinking skills are imperative. Ability to communicate well with all levels of people is necessary. Leadership skills required.
