
Job Title: Estimator
Location: Richmond, BC
Salary Range: $70,000 – $80,000 + benefits
We are currently partnering with a growing HVAC equipment and solutions provider to hire a Mechanical / HVAC Estimator. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, and an interest in mechanical systems to join a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
The Opportunity
As an Estimator, you will play a key role in preparing accurate and competitive quotations for HVAC equipment packages across a variety of commercial and industrial projects. You’ll work closely with internal teams, manufacturers, and contractors to ensure projects are quoted efficiently and aligned with client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Review project drawings, specifications, and tender documents to understand equipment requirements.
Perform material take-offs and equipment selections based on engineering specs and project needs.
Prepare detailed quotations and bid submissions for HVAC equipment packages.
Coordinate with manufacturers and suppliers to obtain pricing, lead times, and technical data.
Ensure all quotations are accurate and aligned with project specifications and company standards.
Track bid opportunities and manage deadlines to support timely submissions.
Maintain organized records of bids, revisions, and supporting documentation.
Monitor bid activity to support internal tracking of pricing trends and market insights.
Communicate with internal sales teams, engineers, and leadership on pricing strategies and project requirements.
Respond to contractor and consultant inquiries regarding equipment selections and quotes.
Support value engineering by proposing alternative equipment solutions where appropriate.
Assist with project handoff as opportunities transition from estimating to order execution.
Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating tools, processes, and documentation.
Qualifications
Experience in HVAC, mechanical estimating, or a related construction/engineering field.
Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and time management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office; experience with Bluebeam is an asset.
Quick learner with the ability to adapt to various supplier software platforms.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Comfortable working in a client-facing environment (primarily via email and quotations).
