Scope / Overview
The Mechanical Technician II is responsible for performing planned mechanical maintenance activities in support of safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations. Working under the direction of a supervisor, this position executes preventative and corrective maintenance on a variety of mechanical equipment while following ExxonMobil safety standards, maintenance procedures, and work management processes. Candidates must be safety-focused, mechanically skilled, and capable of documenting completed work and equipment history.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Assist mechanical engineers with planning, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mechanical components, machinery, engines, instruments, controls, and related equipment.
  • Review job packs prior to execution and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in all required job safety processes and utilize ExxonMobil safety tools.
  • Identify hazards before work begins and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are implemented.
  • Execute maintenance activities according to approved work plans and procedures.
  • Request work permits and communicate promptly with supervision if permits cannot be obtained within required timelines.
  • Record maintenance history and technical findings in Global Reliability Tool (GRT), data sheets, and other required systems.
  • Communicate equipment conditions and recommend corrective actions to supervisors and maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and support continuous reliability improvements.
Required Qualifications
  • Mechanical discipline certification or equivalent hands-on mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Experience performing industrial mechanical maintenance in oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, or similar industrial facilities.
  • Strong commitment to safe work practices and permit-to-work requirements.
  • Ability to read and execute maintenance work packages.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working in upstream oil & gas production facilities.
  • Familiarity with ExxonMobil maintenance systems and work processes.
  • Experience documenting work history in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), including GRT.
  • Experience working rotating schedules in field operations.
