In the UK, we own, operate and are significantly developing the 370 acre top tier COMAH site Saltend Chemicals Park (SCP.) With a cluster of world-class chemicals and renewable energy businesses, it’s strategically positioned on the UK’s busiest ports complex and at the forefront of our energy transition plans.

The Opportunity

We are now recruiting for a Mechanical Technician.

The Mechanical Technician will work as part of the efficient, effective, Saltend Chemicals Park multi-disciplinary technician team, completing maintenance activities, breakdown support, installation works and engineering support for activities on equipment and work for px, customers and clients.

You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete all assigned tasks to the required SHEQ and business standards & times including but not limited to investigation, troubleshooting, planned repair scopes, preventative and predictive maintenance, equipment installation and projects.
  • Complete high quality job reporting through CMMS failure reporting, maintenance issue notifications, lessons learned (particularly on repeatable tasks such as PM’s), and feedback to appropriate persons.
  • Initiate equipment registration requests for changes in equipment hardware and/or data resulting from maintenance activities.
  • Assist other team members in identifying, specifying and actioning spares purchase requisitions.
  • Complete work place safety and condition audits as required.
  • Produce and contribute to maintenance procedures, work plans, project scoping documents and contractor work scopes.
  • Supervise contractor personnel, ensuring work is technically correct and meets site SHEQ procedures.
  • Work alongside other members of the Engineering and Maintenance/ Operations Team to review method statements, risk assessments & other required safety documentation for fitness for purpose.
  • Understand and apply current standards and legislation, including PSSR, DSEAR, HASAWA, LOLER.
  • Assist the Operations team with out of hours call out technical support.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have an NVQ L3 or equivalent mechanical qualification or time served mechanical apprenticeship.
  • Have experience working in a 24/7 industrial process completing mechanical investigations, troubleshooting, planned repairs, predictive & preventative maintenance, equipment installation, fault finding.
  • Experience working at height, with rotating equipment, valves and pipework.
  • Understand engineering drawings & P&ID’s.
  • Be able to use CMMS systems to complete reporting, trending, improvements, Identification, specification and purchase requisition of spares.
  • Have experience with safe, systems of work: reviewing RAMS & other safety documentation.
