Job Description

The Opportunity

Veolia is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to join our Hunter Water Treatment Plant Alliance team. As a Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance across our Hunter Region water operations.

You'll work as part of a collaborative team, ensuring the reliable operation of water and wastewater treatment facilities that serve the community.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Ensuring optimal plant performance through fault finding and repairs
  • Understanding process maintenance and operational issues on a day-to-day basis
  • Autonomous weekly and daily planning with plant operators
  • Participating in scheduling of maintenance tasks
  • Contributing to a safety first and continuous improvement culture
  • Performing calibration of dosing pumps, adjustment of centrifugal pumps and work on other mechanical assets.
  • Managing spare parts inventory and maintaining workshop areas
  • Supervising subcontractors and mentoring apprentices
  • Operating under permit to work systems following strict safety protocols
  • Using VAMS mobile app to manage work assignments

What you'll need to be successful

  • Trade qualification or strong mechanical background
  • Water operations experience preferred
  • Experience working on industrial equipment
