JOB TITLE: MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

Q-Sourcing Servtec is a manpower management solutions firm operating in the
East African Region in the countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and
South Sudan.

On behalf of our client, we are
looking for a competent, skilled, and experienced Mechanical Technician to
work in Kisii, Kenya.

Job Summary:

The overall purpose of this job is to
conduct planned and routine machine preventive maintenance and run diagnostic
tests on machinery and equipment to ensure minimal downtime.

Key duties and
responsibilities:

a)
Preventive
maintenance
checklist update, analysis of the machine running hours, greasing, oil levels,
temperatures, firmness of the foundation bolts, cleanliness of the machine,
safety, etc.;

b)
Receive and promptly respond to breakdown
notifications from operators to c
heck for any
abnormal sounds, temperature, vibration to ensure the
machines are operating optimally;

c)
Ensure that maintenance schedules are met at
cost, on time, at the req
uired quality and
safety levels;

d)
P
roper tracking of
equipment/tools spares parts inventory and escalate
for re-order;

e)
Ensure equipment preventive maintenance schedule
is f
ollowed and updated accordingly;

f)
Ensure proper and
appropriate use of PPEs, and that tools and equipment are in a safe working condition when performing operations in the plant;

g)
Modification of machines after installation to
improve the performance;

h)
Carry out
welding and fabrications to fix the welding leakages during installation
of new machines or pipelines as and when required;

i)
Prepare daily reports and record machine
conditions, on performance of the machines, any breakdowns and repairs done
during the day, any unfinished or pending work during the shift.

j)
Prepare shift handover report.

k)
Carry out an analysis of the machine running
hours;
and

l)
Any other responsibilities assigned to the job
holder by the supervisor from time to time

Requirements

• 
  Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
• 
  Minimum of 3 years’ experience in manufacturing
  maintenance

Technical
& Behavioural competencies

• 
  Production experience and
  ability to follow work instructions
• 
  Creative, flexible,
  detail-oriented, and works well under pressure
• 
  Welding ability (good finish,
  basic innovativeness) plus mechanical and safety knowledge
• 
  Fluent in Swahili and English
  with strong listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
• 
  Team player​
