Job Description

Execute precision installation, assembly, alignment, and maintenance of industrial machinery in accordance with engineering drawings, layout plans, and blueprints. Utilize advanced measuring instruments and industry-standard tools to ensure proper fit, alignment, and operation of equipment. Install and service heavy machinery including pumping systems, compressors, electric generators, turbines, and related industrial systems supporting Martin Energy Group’s operations.

Requirements

Position Responsibilities

  • Interpret and work from blueprints, technical drawings, and layout plans
  • Identify, select, and properly use hand tools, fasteners, and trade-specific equipment
  • Apply fundamental layout principles and intermediate trade-related math
  • Use precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, laser alignment tools)
  • Perform safe rigging and material handling practices for heavy equipment
  • Set baseplates, soleplates, and prepare foundations for equipment installation
  • Pre-align, install, and commission industrial machinery
  • Install and maintain packing, seals (including mechanical seals), gaskets, and O-rings
  • Remove and install bearings, couplings, and related rotating equipment components
  • Fabricate and install shims for alignment and leveling purposes
  • Install and maintain belt drives, chain drives, fans, and blowers
  • Apply oxy-fuel cutting techniques when required
  • Perform and interpret equipment alignment using conventional, laser, and reverse alignment methods
  • Identify various types of pumps, compressors, and turbines, including their operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues in gearboxes and rotating equipment
  • Collaborate with team members to complete installations efficiently and safely
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years of mechanical experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in welding, machining, cutting, and fabrication processes
  • Strong ability to work safely both independently and in a team environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from technical documents and blueprints
  • Strong motivation to learn, develop skills, and adapt to evolving work requirements
  • Must be fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available)
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check

  • Ability to analyze information and make sound technical decisions
  • Proficiency with welding equipment, forklifts, and basic computer systems used in industrial settings
