The Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for leading the mechanical maintenance team to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient execution of all mechanical work across the facility. This role directly supervises mechanics and contractors, sets clear expectations, and holds the team accountable for results.
This position requires a highly engaged, field-focused leader who drives work execution, reinforces standards, and fosters a strong team culture aligned with Vistra’s “One Team” philosophy.

Key Responsibilities

Drive Safe, Disciplined Execution

  • Ensure all mechanical work is performed safely and in compliance with site procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a strong field presence to observe work, reinforce expectations, and intervene when needed
  • Drive adherence to maintenance standards, procedures, and quality expectations

Lead, Engage, and Hold the Team Accountable

  • Set clear expectations for safety, performance, and work execution
  • Hold mechanics and contractors accountable for meeting those expectations
  • Provide direct, timely feedback—both positive recognition and corrective coaching
  • Address performance gaps promptly and consistently

Own and Drive Work Execution

  • Actively drive daily work activities, not just coordinate them
  • Ensure work is executed according to plan, while adapting to changing plant conditions
  • Remove barriers and escalate issues that impact schedule, safety, or quality
  • Deliver results during both routine maintenance and outage conditions

Foster a “One Team” Culture

  • Promote collaboration across Mechanical, Operations, Electrical, and support teams
  • Reinforce shared ownership of plant performance, not siloed responsibilities
  • Support peers and other departments to ensure overall site success
  • Build a team environment based on trust, respect, and accountability

Execute Maintenance and Outage Work

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee mechanical maintenance activities
  • Support outage planning and execution with a focus on schedule adherence and efficient resource utilization
  • Ensure work orders are completed accurately and closed out in a timely manner

Drive Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and act on opportunities to improve equipment reliability and team effectiveness
  • Engage the team in improvement initiatives (e.g., OPI or similar programs)
  • Use performance data and observations to drive better outcomes

Qualifications & Experience

  • 6–10 years of mechanical maintenance experience in power generation or heavy industrial environments required.
  • Supervisory or lead experience with direct responsibility for team performance preferred.
  • Highschool diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, pumps, valves, and mechanical systems required.
  • Experience with work management systems (SAP, Maximo, etc.) preferred.
  • Proven ability to set expectations, enforce standards, and drive accountability.

Key Leadership Attributes

  • Engaged Leader – Visible in the field and actively involved in work execution
  • Accountability-Driven – Sets expectations and consistently holds the team to them
  • Execution-Focused – Drives work to completion with discipline and urgency
  • Team-Oriented (“One Team”) – Breaks down silos and promotes shared success
  • Decisive – Takes action and addresses issues directly

What Success Looks Like

  • Supervisor is consistently engaged in the field, driving work—not observing from a distance
  • Team clearly understands expectations and is held accountable for results
  • Mechanical work is completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards
  • Strong collaboration exists across all disciplines, reflecting a true “One Team” culture
  • Equipment reliability and team performance show measurable improvement
  • Issues, risks, and schedule impacts are communicated early and proactively to management, with a focus on no surprises and timely resolution

This role is best suited for individuals who lead from the field, establish clear expectations, hold their teams accountable, and take ownership of delivering results.
