Job Description

The Mechanical & Piping Superintendent is responsible for the field execution and oversight of all mechanical and piping construction activities on mining and industrial projects. This includes supervising contractors, ensuring compliance with design specifications, enforcing safety and quality standards, and coordinating with project managers and engineers to meet schedule and budget objectives.

Location: Arnea, Greece.

Responsibilities

Field Supervision:

  • Lead and supervise mechanical and piping subcontractors during installation of piping systems, pumps, tanks, structural/mechanical equipment, and process infrastructure.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with design drawings, specifications, and applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, CSA, API).
  • Monitor progress and ensure schedule milestones are met without compromising safety or quality. This includes systems specific to mine process plants such as pump stations, slurry and water distribution systems, flotation circuits, thickeners, and grinding mills.
  • Conduct inspections and testing of mechanical and piping systems, including hydrostatic testing, alignment, torqueing, and installation verification.
  • Verify installation quality and adherence to the mechanical and piping scope of work.
  • Ensure that QA/QC documentation, weld records, pressure test packages, and turnover packages are completed and submitted on time.
  • Enforce site safety policies and participate in safety audits, toolbox talks, and incident investigations.
  • Identify and mitigate field hazards, including those related to lifting, rigging, pressure systems, and stored energy.
  • Foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement among the mechanical and piping crews.
  • Interface with other superintendents, construction managers, and engineering teams to resolve field issues.
  • Support work planning, material tracking, and coordination of mechanical completion and commissioning activities.
  • Communicate field status updates, progress, and any issues impacting execution.
  • Competitive hourly rate with annual bonus eligibility and benefits.
  • Travel and accommodations covered for remote project assignments.
  • Projects may be in domestic or international locations.
  • Typically 12 hours per day
  • On site rotational work (14x14, 28x28, etc.) in Arnea, Greece
  • Travel time to/from a project site are paid from point of hire to a maximum of 8 hours per travel day.
  • 15+ years of mechanical and piping construction experience, including 3+ years in a superintendent or leadership role.
  • Journeyperson Pipefitter, Millwright, or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with industrial and mining mechanical systems and applicable codes (ASME B31.3, CSA, API, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of safety practices, field coordination, and contractor supervision.

Quality & Compliance:
