PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To assist in manufacturing, reproducing and servicing mechanical parts in

a safe and efficient manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 /STD 10 or NQF 4 equivalent

• Serviceman Certificate (Applicable Training Structures)

• 3 years' experience as an Engineering Assistant with work related experience

• Valid Medical certificate or medically fit to obtain such a certificate

COMPETENCIES:

• Knowledge of health and safety principles is key

• Engineering background (Identify Tools, inspect for defects and maintain and use of tools) is essential

• Basic Safety (Firefighting, first aid and emergency evacuating) essential

• Basic business skills would be an advantage
• Engineering drawing skills (N1) would be an advantage

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Ensure that installation and maintenance of the mechanical equipment is done safely and cost effectively
• Conduct the routine planned inspections on all mechanical equipment
• Compile a report on inspections conducted and report to the supervisor
• Repair all the defective mechanical equipment safely, timely and cost effectively
• Provide constant feedback and interact with production line
• Ensure good people supervision to maintaining discipline, conducting on-the-job coaching and POLC
