A Mechanical Section Head oversees mechanical maintenance operations, ensuring maximum equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency. Key responsibilities include leading technical teams, developing preventive/predictive maintenance plans, managing spare parts inventory, and troubleshooting heavy-duty industrial machinery, such as conveyors, rotating equipment, and hydraulic systems When executing the projects, the Project / Maintenance Engineer may act as project manager for the project, from the initial budgeting and design phase to execution and delivery of the project to production.
The Project Engineer is acting as project manager of capex project from design, business case to execution and completion within specification. He / she is in charge of the planning, budget and deliverable versus the business case endorsed by the business.
The Project / Maintenance Engineer works closely with the Maintenance Manager or Technical Manager in order to ensure the technical availability of the assets and installations. The Project / Maintenance Engineer may specialize in a single area (mechanical, construction, transport systems, electrical) or have a broader / generalist role.
The level of the Project / Maintenance Engineer will depend on the size of the organisation / site and installations, the scope and size of the project managed as well as the complexity of the production processes / equipment.
• Follow all mechanical maintenance procedures by evaluating their effectiveness and proposing improvements to enable the mechanical maintenance to function in the most effective way
• Proceed to the optimization of mechanical maintenance operations by using the most proper tools and methods, in order to maximize equipment availability and effectiveness.
• Evaluate the work performed and delivered by his team and vendors by providing all the necessary support for its efficient and timely execution and ensuring that equipment is in good operating condition and fully inspected, tested, and ready to meet operational requirements.
• Monitor and evaluate the efficiency of the mechanical maintenance activities, providing analytical reporting of results, e.g., maintenance progress report, consumption of materials, specific tools, man-hours, including services from external suppliers, and focus on identifying areas for operational improvement, identifying the most suitable suppliers of spare parts and services to meet company standards
• Conduct mechanical operational assessment by executing proactive maintenance operations, identifying issues for consideration, and proceeds to all the adequate steps and actions when electrical incidents occur.
• Identify the operational needs of the area of responsibility in terms of equipment, spare parts, or resources, and communicates them with Maintenance manager by assisting in the development of the department’s budget to provide technical insight and support for the development of the investment plan.
• Motivate, develop, and manage the team in a way that ensures high level of initiative, cooperation, and personal development opportunities.
• Ensure that safe work rules and practices are understood, implemented, and consistently followed by the Maintenance department employees and subcontractors.
• Follow the appropriate health, safety, and environmental practices in area of responsibility, identifying and reporting issues of consideration to meet company, corporate and governmental standards.
• Upload all relevant information to the computer monitored maintenance system to keep track of all measurement results.
• Participate or lead ad-hoc projects that may go beyond formal accountabilities to satisfy and respond accordingly to business needs.
• Proactively manage Health & Safety process and procedures to achieve the company ambition of ‘0 Lost Time Injuries’ and to continuously improve the company's Health & Safety performance.
• Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, performing trainings, monitoring compliance etc.
