Job Description

LotusWorks is seeking a Mechanical QA/QC & Commissioning Engineer to provide independent verification and quality oversight of mechanical equipment being fabricated and integrated off-site.

This role ensures mechanical systems are constructed, inspected, tested, and documented in accordance with design specifications, manufacturer requirements, and project commissioning procedures prior to shipment from the supplier. The engineer will work closely with fabrication teams, vendors, and commissioning stakeholders to ensure equipment meets project quality and installation readiness requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform source inspections of mechanical equipment including CDU skids, HVAC skids, piping systems, pumps, valves, and heat exchangers.
  • Verify that specified equipment meets approved design drawings, project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes.
  • Conduct daily QA/QC inspections of mechanical equipment fabrication and assembly at the integrator facility.
  • Verify materials, mechanical joints, piping systems, labeling, and connections are properly installed, aligned, torqued, and leak-free.
  • Witness contractor pre-functional testing, including pressure testing, flushing, leak testing, and system integrity verification.
  • Ensure equipment is properly labeled, accessible, and installed with required maintenance clearances for its final installation location.
  • Review installation documentation and maintain Level 2 installation verification checklists.
  • Record inspection observations and reports using assigned commissioning or QA/QC software platforms.
  • Identify mechanical deficiencies, log issues, and coordinate corrective actions with vendors or contractors.
  • Participate in quality assurance and commissioning coordination meetings with vendors, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.

Skills Required:

  • 3–5 years of related experience in mechanical QA/QC, commissioning, or mission-critical mechanical infrastructure environments.
  • Experience working with mission-critical or data center mechanical systems.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical QA/QC inspection and commissioning processes.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, design specifications, and vendor documentation.
  • Experience performing equipment inspections and pre-functional testing verification.
  • Familiarity with commissioning platforms such as CxAlloy, Autodesk BIM 360, or similar construction management systems.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills when working with vendors, contractors, and commissioning teams.

Education / Licenses / Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable.
